It's a good question. Replies above are all good too!
One of the hardest things about telling people things on your blog is that other, newer readers come along and don't know all your background. In some ways, this doesn't matter, in other ways, do I keep telling people I blogged for my ill mum and later she died, or do I just get on with things and occasionally confuse readers?
The more personal stuff has other complications too, obviously.
So, thinking of you, even if you don't want to blog about it all.
Mmmh..different feelings..maybe when real life keeps you very busy it's when you start disliking the internet, Blogger in particular..well, this is what has happened to me lately (except for FB of course :-)
I realize what you mean! A few minutes ago I commented on somedy's blog, and this person is using Disqus for commenting... I tried to log in to my Google account (like with Blogger), and what happened is it showed my full name (which I never use on the internet) publicly! This scared me. In that moment I realized how public the internet is... scary sometimes.
It is difficult to find a good balance, I suppose. I occasionally mention bits of my personal life, but light hearted things, nothing heavy. I do know ( and am very fond of ) of some bloggers, who write about a terribly emotional events in their lives, but then go back to lighter blogging, and thats fine with me. Thats a good balance. If friends are in trouble, or sad, or need to get things off their chest sometimes, then I do want to know about it and give them my support. What I find hard to cope with are blogs which are constantly full of self pity and heavy personal issues and everything else takes a back seat. For me the important words here are occasionally and constantly. Gosh, this is probably the most serious comment I have ever written, lol, very unlike me. Now let me give you a big hug, and if you don't feel comfortable talking about whatever is biting you, on the blog, then email me. xxx
very interesting question !
